What's for Breakfast is a creative studio founded by Marieka Ratsma. Born from a desire to do work that genuinely brings joy, and to bring together everything she knows: design, communications, photography, storytelling.
The name is a nod to the start of the day. The quiet before it gets busy. The light that only exists for an hour. A love for food, for people, for places with character.
That is what this is built around.
Services
1. Visual Identity
Creating thoughtful, cohesive brand identities that reflect your story and values, from logo design and typography to color palettes and brand guidelines.

2. Photography
We create cinematic, atmospheric imagery that goes beyond the dish or the room. Every shoot is built around the identity of your brand, capturing the feeling of being there. Images that hold up long after the trend has passed.

3. Videography
A few seconds can say everything, if they are made right. We create short form video that carries atmosphere and intention. From behind the scenes moments to launch content, always rooted in your brand's visual world.

4. Content Strategy & Social
We help you decide what to say, how to say it, and why. A content strategy built around your brand's identity and long term vision, not around what is trending this week. Cohesive, considered, and designed to grow with you.

FAQs
Every project starts with a conversation. We want to understand your brand, your guests, and what you are building toward. From there we develop a creative direction and move into production. You are involved where it matters, without being overwhelmed by the process.
Yes. Most of our clients come with something already in place. We work with what exists, sharpen it where needed, and make sure everything feels consistent across every touchpoint.
Creative direction is at the core of what we do. Photography is the result of that thinking. We decide what to shoot, how to shoot it, and why, before we ever pick up a camera.
How do you approach content for hospitality brands specifically?
Both. Some clients come to us for a single shoot or brand identity project. Others work with us on an ongoing basis. We find that the best visual work happens over time, when we really know a brand. But every collaboration starts somewhere.
We are aware of them. We do not follow them. Trends move fast and age faster. We build content that feels right for your brand, not for the algorithm this week.
Because we bring strategy and photography together in one place. You do not need a separate photographer, art director, and content strategist. We think in concepts, work in images, and build toward something that lasts.
Yes. If you know exactly what you need and just want beautiful images, we can work that way too. We will always bring our eye for atmosphere and detail, whatever the scope.
As early as possible. We work with a limited number of clients at a time to make sure every project gets the attention it deserves. A few weeks ahead is the minimum, but for larger projects we prefer a little more runway.
